about

EP I is a completely remixed and remastered version of the debut EP by STRANGE. It is a caustic love letter to all things heavy, encompassing thrash, hardcore, doom, sludge and straight-up rock and roll. This new version features a radically expanded sonic pallette and new mixes/edits of every song, including previously discarded guitar and vocal takes.

The original version of this EP was one of the studio's earlier works and chased a pummeling, lo-fi squall in order to accurately translate the sonic chaos these two men create. In retrospect, it didn't need that. Drummer Luke Friedrich's precise bashing, alternately rumbling and piercing, and Guitarist/Vocalist Adam Rucinski's muscular shredding and throaty screams could be recorded on a zither and an upturned bucket and still make ears bleed. These new, fuller and more accurate mixes allow the music to breathe and expand as well as attack.

With or without the audio tinkering, however, the music contained herein has always been fantastic. Strange have created a genre-spanning metal record that cuts brutal riff-rock and post-metal atmospherics with a vicious sense of economy. It's a record that doesn't care what you think, but still won't waste your time. It's a record that will introduce a great vocal hook and then spend four minutes burying it in shifting math-rock riffs.

It's a record that came here to smoke weed and melt faces... and it's all out of weed.
